Lads to Leaders Review

Lads to Leaders Review
The Lads to Leaders Convention this past weekend was absolutely awesome!!! I am so very proud of all of our young people for all the hard work that went into getting ready for convention as well as the great job they all did at convention. This was our 9th year of participation in Lads to Leaders and I must say it was one of the best conventions I have been to. I want to commend all of our young people on their wonderful attitude and behavior during the convention. This coming Sunday morning during announcements I will be doing a review of this years convention for the congregation. All participants and winners will be mentioned then. Also Coming up on April 22nd we will be having a Lads to Leaders recognition day. Following our morning service the entire congregation is invited to bring a dish for a fellowship meal together. Following the meal we will recognize all of our 2011-2012 Lads to Leaders participants and winners. We will also have puppet performances by our teams as well as speeches from some of our young men. We hope everyone in the congregation will take the time to join us for this day to recognize our young people and all the hard work they have put into improving their talents in working for the Lord.
I want to thank all of our adults who helped with the program this year. They will also be recognized during our time together on the 22nd.

Senior Youth Retreat March 16-18th

The Senior Youth Fall Retreat is fast approaching. It is not too late to sign up for retreat or to sign your friends up for retreat. We will spend the weekend in an atmosphere away from the world where we can focus on spiritual things and grow closer together and closer to God. We will be meeting at 530 pm on the 16th to leave to go to Whispering Pines near Gallatin TN. The Youth leaders have been working hard in order to make this retreat one of the best as is the goal for every retreat. The cost for retreat is 25 dollars and a bag of cookies and chips.

Camp Rewind March 10th

Every year some of our youth go to Short Mountain Bible Camp during the last week in June. This past summer I have had the privilege to be one of the directors for camp so this will be my second year to help direct. Every year after camp we have a camp rewind. The rewind is basically like a reunion for students who went to camp that year. This year we are doing something a little different. Rewind is not only for last years campers but for those who are interested in going to camp this summer. We will have dinner, have a devotional and watch the slide show from this past summer. Following that we will be revealing this summer’s theme and attempt to ignite excitement for camp this summer. This is a great opportunity for students and parents to learn more about camp.

Excitement

What are things we like to get excited about? We get excited over many different things depending on our interests. Music, movies, graduating, driving, sports, etc..are all things we might get excited about. But let me ask, do you get that excited about church, about being a Christian, about obeying God? If we take the time to realize what being a servant God really means, there should be no reason why we shouldn’t be bursting with excitement at the idea of getting to follow God and getting a chance to have eternal life! Sometimes we just need to stop…..take a long hard look at what we deem to be important and excitable in our lives and see if our priorities are where they need to be. God created us and everything in this world in which we live. He loves us so much that he gave his son to be sacrificed, to become flesh and endure the worst death imaginable so that you and I can have a home with Him in heaven. Let’s get excited about serving God! Let’s show Him every day how much we love Him and how appreciative we are at all He has done for us!!
